Paper Christmas x Computer Arts
After finishing our Paper Christmas animation for Adam et Ropé in Japan almost a year ago to this day pretty much, we’ve just completed a special feature for Computer Arts Magazine’s Christmas Edition which includes the original animation together with a new illustration for the inside cover we’ve created using the original paper ingredients of the animation.
For anyone interested in the technical details, we’ve also created a 10 point tutorial on a small section of the final animation which will also appear in the magazine.

Is it possible to get a copy of the tutorial made for CA anywhere? I’ve only just found out about CA and desperately want to try this technique. Thankyou x
I would first like to thank you for sharing this resource. I picked up this issue awhile back and I’m desperately trying this out. I just tried to contact the people at Computer Arts and at Fluid Design.
My question was after using Photoshop can this project also be done in any non linear editor like iMovie for example. I also was curious as to how to achieve the continuous scrolling effect and the parallax motion with the objects in the foreground moving faster than the ones in the background.
Forgive me if you are not the person this question should be directed to and if you are not the person would you have someone else in mind that might be able to tell me how to accomplish this.
Thanks again for providing this and other helpful resources.
Thank you,
Brandon
hi…
Glad you liked Paper Christmas. To create any of the movement in the animation you really need to be using something like Apple’s Motion, After Effects or Flash to get the right weight to the moving elements.
For he background we had a large image moving behind everything on a separate layer.
Thanks
Lee
Thank you for that response. Piggybacking on the question above. Do you know where I can find this tutorial?
Thank you,
Brandon
I think it’s being re-printed in the next issue of Computer Arts Projects, which is all about motion graphics.
If you can’t find a copy let me know, maybe i can send a PDF.
I remember seeing this tutorial in a CA issue a short while ago but can’t seem to find it again. Could a copy be sent to me?
Thanks!
